Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.CNC MACHINIST (RAPTOR COMBUSTION DEVICES & VALVES) - LEVEL 4/5RESPONSIBILITIES:Operate, setup, and program edit CNC machines, and flight hardware needed to achieve Raptor program rate targetsPerform precision set-ups of various CNC machines on state-of-the-art assets (DMG, Nigata, Heller)Prioritize daily work to ensure high machine uptime across the assigned shop / areaManage cutting tools in CNC machines to ensure that machines have the needed cutting tools loaded and measured before they are called in upcoming programsPerform on and off machine deburr of hardware to contribute consistent quality of partsOperate clean line equipment, CMM, borescope, and general part finishing according to requirementsOperate and effectively use calibrated devices to ensure hardware exiting the machine shop is conforming and meets print requirementsPerform CNC machine preventative maintenance on a weekly and monthly basisMaintain the shop in terms of chip bins, oils, greases, 5S, and general upkeep activitiesRemain flexible in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, and support teammates however possibleComplete work instructions and test plans to document needed data throughout each processIntroduce fresh ideas in machining, fixturing and tooling approach for optimal efficiencyBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or equivalency certificate8+ years of experience in CNC machiningPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:10+ years of experience operating CNC machineryProficient knowledge in high efficiency milling and turningAbility to read accurately, write clearly, and perform basic arithmetic calculations accuratelyExperience in shop math, tooling technology, blueprint reading, and measurement of partsStrong mechanical aptitudeStrong interpersonal skills including, but not limited to, contributing to a team-oriented environment, balancing the team, and individual responsibilitiesCapable and or has the capacity to learn all assets in the shopAble and willing to cross train their peers and or to be cross trained by their peersADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be capable of lifting 35 lbs. unassistedMust be capable of standing and kneeling for 8 hoursAbility to use physical and repetitive movements such as bending or twisting, using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controlsAbility to be exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distractingCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Pay range:Level 4: $36.00 - $43.00/hourLevel 5: $41.00 - $51.00/hourYour actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
