Direct and manage assigned areas of instructional program and campus operations. Oversee assigned student activities and services. Qualifications Education/Certification: Master’s degree from an accredited university Certification: Valid Texas Standard Principal or Mid-Management certification Valid Texas Driver’s License Certified Texas Teacher Support and Evaluation System (T-TESS) appraiser Successful background check; employee pays approximately $50 background‑check fee Special Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of campus operations Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness Ability to manage budget and personnel Ability to implement policy and procedures Ability to interpret data Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Experience Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a classroom teacher. Major Responsibilities and Duties Instructional Management Participate in the development and management of innovative instructional programs, assisting teachers in piloting such efforts when appropriate. Participate in program evaluation and make improvement recommendations. Reinforce expectations for staff performance regarding instructional strategies and classroom management. Foster collegiality and team building among staff; encourage active involvement in decision‑making. Promote the use of technology in the teaching/learning process. School/Organizational Improvement Lead planning and implementation of activities to ensure attainment of the school’s mission. Participate in development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members. Help principal develop, maintain, and use information systems to track campus performance objectives and academic excellence indicators. Student Management Act as a campus behavioral coordinator in accordance with state laws and regulations. Work with faculty and students to develop a student discipline management system that promotes positive behavior and enhances school climate. Ensure school rules are applied uniformly, with equitable discipline in accordance with the JISD Student Handbook. Conduct conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers. Ensure adequate supervision during non‑instructional periods. Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management Oversee campus operations in principal’s absence. Lead planning and scheduling of daily school activities, including master/class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular schedules. Oversee and monitor student attendance; work with staff to address issues. Work with department heads to compile annual budget requests. Requisition supplies, textbooks, and equipment; monitor inventory per district procedures. Coordinate operational support services such as transportation, custodial, and cafeteria. Comply with district policies, state and federal laws, and regulations affecting schools. Personnel Management Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences; serve as second appraiser for teacher appraisal system as needed. Assist principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff. School/Community Relations Articulate the school’s mission to the community and solicit support. Demonstrate awareness of school‑community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs, encouraging community and parent involvement. Other Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance. Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator’s Code of Ethics. Daily attendance and punctuality are essential. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervision and evaluation of district personnel is not required; however, student supervision is required and includes directing instructional aides. Equipment Used Office equipment: computer, printer, calculator, multi‑line telephone, software, copier, fax, etc. Communication equipment: radio, cellular telephone. Video monitoring equipment. Working Conditions Mental Demands Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions.
