Job Description
The Director of Human Resources reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for ensuring effective administration of all HR policies and programs, including benefits, employee relations, talent development, compensation, and performance management. This role requires a high degree of confidentiality and leadership in compliance with applicable legislation and HR best practices.
Responsibilities
- Administer and oversee HR programs including compensation, benefits administration, employee relations, disciplinary matters, disputes, investigations, performance management, and talent management.
- Maintain expertise in HR best practices, emerging trends, and technologies to enhance employee experience and HR functions.
- Act as a visible HR partner, providing input, influence, and counsel on HR matters to meet business growth objectives and drive improvements.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align HR strategies with organizational goals.
- Create systems to attract talent, identify critical talent needs, and develop core competencies.
- Manage accurate and compliant employee data records and official employment files.
- Provide consultation to management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
- Provide guidance on complex employee relations issues and consult with Executives on legal matters.
- Communicate new policies, information, and directives to all employees.
- Maintain an open door policy and work cooperatively with Union representatives.
Required Qualifications
- 5-10 years of generalist experience in Human Resources.
- Master’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent (e.g., MBA, Organizational Leadership).
- HR/SPHR certification.
- Excellent communication skills.
- High proficiency in business software and HRIS/Payroll software (Paycom preferred).
- Not for profit experience required
