City/State:White Plains, New YorkDepartment:WPH Nursing 4F_4Work Shift:DayWork Days:MON-FRI, ALTERNATING WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYSScheduled Hours:7 AM-7 PMHours Per Pay Period:75Pay Rate/Range:$25.00 - $28.80For positions that have only a rate listed, the displayed rate is the hiring rate but could be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other relevant factors.Job SummaryThe Monitoring Technician is responsible for on-going surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and provides RNs and/or clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms.Essential FunctionsUnderstands and adheres to WPH Policies and proceduresMeasures and interprets patients' heart rhythmsBuilds a report consisting of a baseline strip for each shift and any ectopy in BedMaster for approval and submission into the EMR by the RNInitiates and discontinues monitoring on admission, transfer, or dischargePerforms configuration as necessaryPerforms clerical duties related to admission, transfer, and discharge, of patient information from Central TelemetryAnswers telephone and communicates clearly when receiving information from units or providersUses clear and complete communication with unit personnel when delivering information about changes in patient rhythmOrients and mentors new staff membersServes as a resource for training and troubleshooting to both Central Telemetry and clinical areasTroubleshoots monitors with nursing staff and contacts Biomedical Engineering as appropriateGives report to oncoming shiftPrioritizes and organizes work assignment and adjusts priorities based on changing situationsMaintains and stocks all designated equipment, including telemetry box, lead wires, and pulse oxReports defective equipment and failures to biomedical engineeringAdheres to HIPPA compliance of information acquired pertaining to patients, clinicians, employees, and visitorsDevelops a rapport and cooperative relationship with nursing and clinical staffResponds to questions/requests from healthcare providers.Performs job responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Values of White Plains Hospital.Performs other duties as requested.QualificationsHigh School Required orGEDless than 1 year Heart Rhythm Interpretation experience PreferredHeart Rhythm Interpretation preferred (Low proficiency)BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association within 180 Days RequiredSuccessful Completion of EKG Course (WPH) within 90 Days RequiredWhite Plains Hospital Medical Center is an equal employment opportunity employer.
