Job Title: Database Administrator - 13+ years exp

Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid)

We are currently seeking candidates who meet the following qualifications:

Required Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of database management systems, data warehouse management, and decision support tools.
• Extensive experience in the development, implementation, and maintenance of data warehouses and data marts.
• Experience with Business Objects and building data dictionaries.
• Ability to use database access tools for application delivery.
• Strong familiarity with analysis, planning, and management reporting functions.
• Strong understanding of benchmarking processes and techniques.
• Knowledge of data warehousing data population and data modeling techniques, including Star Schemas, Snowflake Schemas, and highly normalized data models.
• Experience with GUI-based ETL tools such as Informatica, IBM WebSphere DataStage, or similar tools.
• Experience implementing enterprise-class databases such as Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server, or similar technologies.
• Experience implementing analytical and reporting tools such as Business Objects, Cognos, Hyperion, MicroStrategy, or similar tools.
• Experience with data warehouse implementation processes, including business requirements, logical modeling, physical database design, data sourcing, data transformation, data loading, SQL, end-user tools, database, and SQL performance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Working knowledge of EIR Accessibility standards and assistive technologies.
• Experience ensuring database administration and data input, viewing, and reporting interfaces comply with accessibility standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Oracle Database experience.
• Power BI report creation experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Enter codes to create production databases and utility programs to monitor database performance, including distribution of records and available memory.
• Direct programmers and analysts in making changes to database management systems.
• Review and correct programs and modify database programs to improve processing performance through performance tuning.
• Answer user questions and provide technical assistance related to databases and data.
• Confer with coworkers to determine the impact of database changes on other systems and staff costs.
• Provide assistance in the planning, development, maintenance, and monitoring of integrated database systems.
• Ensure the conceptual and design phases of new applications are consistent with structural parameters within the database environment.
• Evaluate user requests for new data elements and systems and incorporate them into the existing shared data environment.
• Coordinate the use of data to ensure data integrity and control redundancy.
• Load and reorganize databases as needed.
• Perform data modeling and prototyping.
• Perform logical and physical data modeling and design relational database models.
• Create physical data models from logical data models.
• Perform database security and recovery procedures.
• Determine and implement database search strategies and storage requirements.
• Maintain the data dictionary, ensuring uniformity of definitions and establishing standards for its use.
• Monitor database performance and recommend efficiency improvements.
• Create test database environments for application sections, including necessary libraries and procedures.
• Execute procedures required to save, retrieve, and recover databases from hardware and software failures within established procedures.
• Assist with determining, implementing, and enhancing database security standards.
• Assist with monitoring agency disaster recovery procedures and systems.
• Assist with the installation of database software.
• Assist with analyzing, designing, and implementing databases.
• Assist with database benchmarking and threshold testing.
• Assist with establishing and controlling necessary database security.
• Assist in the selection of database management software.
• Support data warehouse population and data modeling using Star Schemas, Snowflake Schemas, and highly normalized data models.

• Provide support to users in obtaining data and information when EIR Accessibility issues arise.
• Ensure database administration interfaces and data input, viewing, and output through reports comply with EIR Accessibility standards.
