The exam fee is $55, paid directly to NTN. If you have already taken the NTN written Law Enforcement exam for another organization within the past 365 days, you may transfer an existing score for $12. Selection Process Monthly application review Interview Background check (approximately 4 weeks) Polygraph (when an opening is available, typically completed within 2 weeks) Psychological evaluation, physical and drug screening (after a conditional offer; typically completed within 2 weeks) No waiting period for re‑application Essential Duties & Responsibilities Receive briefing at the start of each shift and inspect assigned vehicle and weaponry. Respond to police calls, assist allied law enforcement and local fire department, render first aid, and provide assistance to citizens. Investigate criminal activity, including felony, misdemeanor, local ordinance violations, and petty crimes; notify supervisors and provide backup as required. Investigate calls of a non‑criminal nature, such as civil disturbances, family disputes, missing persons, and other complaints. Serve as Juvenile Officer, investigate crimes by minors, provide counseling services, and liaise with the State Attorney’s office, court system, and related agencies. Apprehend, arrest, and transport suspects to police holding facilities; conduct booking and coordinate with County Jail facilities. Patrol assigned areas by vehicle or foot, enforce traffic ordinances, perform speed control, issue citations, monitor for stolen vehicles, and arrest drivers without registration. Prepare, maintain, and forward reports and records of activities; prepare cases for court presentation and provide testimony. Perform community relations duties, speak to schools and community groups on crime prevention. Provide road information and assistance to motorists. Follow all safety regulations, report unsafe conditions, accidents, and maintain safety practices. Perform additional duties as requested or assigned within the scope of responsibilities. Qualifications Education & Experience Associates degree or 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of accredited college credit; or equivalent military experience; must complete accreditation by an accredited law‑enforcement training school within six months of hire.
