Associate Medical Director, Rare Disease - SMA & ALS (US Medical Affairs)

Associate Medical Director supporting US medical strategy development and execution for Biogen's spinal muscular atrophy and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis programs. Reports to the Medical Director within North America Medical Affairs and partners with cross-functional teams to advance rare disease therapeutics.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute US medical strategy and tactics for SMA and ALS assets aligned with global strategy
• Serve as primary US medical contact coordinating across field medical, clinical development, commercial, and other cross-functional partners
• Build relationships with key medical experts, healthcare institutions, and patient advocacy groups in rare disease space
• Develop medical materials including presentations, training resources, and talking points for internal and external stakeholders
• Organize advisory boards, facilitate congress deliverables, and drive data-generation initiatives

Requirements

• MD, PhD, PharmD, or comparable advanced degree
• Minimum 3 years pharmaceutical industry experience in medical affairs or field medical roles
• Clinical expertise in SMA, ALS, or rare disease therapeutic areas preferred
• Knowledge of US regulatory requirements relevant to medical affairs
• Project management skills and ability to lead collaborative initiatives
• Strong written and oral communication abilities including presentations
• Experience with evidence generation planning and post-marketing data initiatives

Compensation: $183,000-$252,000 base
