General Services Specialist

Overview Job Title: FL-DCF-Orlando-General Services Specialist Location: Orlando, FL The staff member will report to 400 W. Robinson St, Orlando, FL 32801 and work Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. at their own expense. Travel may be required to support emergencies with state vehicles, including gas, tolls, and maintenance. Overnight travel may occur in emergencies; hotel and meals may be provided or reimbursed as applicable. This is a very visible position with a wide range of responsibilities in General Services. Driving requirements May occasionally drive a state vehicle to other DCF sights in the Central Region (Polk, Highlands, Hardee) during emergencies. May occasionally have overnight travel in the Suncoast Region during emergencies. Work environment You are the first — and often the only — representative of General Services that staff will see. Conduct yourself and your work in a courteous and respectful manner. This is a responsible position requiring the ability to work independently, keep the supervisor and team leaders informed, and report updates as needed. The role involves many duties and opportunities to work with the DCF team. Candidate responsibilities Maintaining and accounting for Personal Protective Equipment and DSNAP inventory and distribution systems. Compliance with CFOP 40-2 Vehicle Management; maintain your state vehicle and other state vehicles, and submit monthly logs in a timely manner. Maintaining the ERV (Emergency Response Vehicles & Trailers). Assisting the MASC with day-to-day needs and witnessing the destruction of mail on a weekly basis. Assisting with internal and external moves for the department. Making keys for employees who request them and managing a log of who has one. Managing the keycard system for several sites. Disposing of surplus materials and furniture in accordance with CFOP 80-2. Supplying employees with furniture and desks as needed. Install whiteboards, corkboards and pictures across the region in offices and hallways. Ensure you are prepared with hand dollies and the necessary tools to perform tasks and manage equipment/tools issued to you. Assist with IT equipment moves and large office moves when required. Use appropriate hand dollies to move large and heavy items (e.g., filing cabinets, desks) following CFOP 215-4 Safety & Loss Control. Ensure facilities (AC, lights, etc.) are operating to provide a comfortable work environment. Learn various sites, where to go, and who to see; use GPS as a reference and create a directory with site contacts. Maintain the warehouse, keep aisles clear, and initiate purchase orders for supplies and keys as needed; never authorize services without a PO. When the State of Florida is impacted by a hurricane, assist with Disaster Management to prepare facilities and assets for the event and recovery efforts. Ensure all sites have no safety issues before leaving; address safety issues immediately. When encountering trespassers on state property, ask them to leave; if they refuse, call 911 and inform designated contacts as appropriate. Transfer surplus IT equipment to the Wildwood warehouse.
