Compensation
- Base Salary: $40,000 – $45,000 (depending on experience)
- Commission: Performance-based commission on new accounts and revenue generated
- On-Target Earnings (OTE): $65,000 – $85,000+ for representatives consistently achieving quota
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Inside Sales Representative to generate new business through strategic prospecting, consultative selling, and relationship building. This is a high-activity, phone-first sales role focused on identifying prospective clients, understanding their background screening and compliance needs, and guiding them through the sales process.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, persistent, and passionate about building long-term client relationships while consistently meeting sales goals. This position works closely with management and operations to ensure a seamless client onboarding experience and long-term customer success.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Prospecting & Lead Generation
- Conduct high-volume outbound prospecting via phone calls, emails, and LinkedIn to identify and engage HR directors, hiring managers, procurement contacts, and business owners.
- Build and manage a qualified pipeline of prospects across target industries.
- Research prospective companies to understand their current screening programs, pain points, and decision-making processes prior to outreach.
- Utilize CRM tools, lead lists, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and other prospecting resources to identify new business opportunities.
- Follow up consistently on warm leads, inbound inquiries, and marketing-generated contacts.
Sales & Consultative Selling
- Conduct discovery calls to understand prospects' screening needs, current vendor relationships, service gaps, and compliance concerns.
- Clearly communicate the value proposition, including turnaround times, compliance expertise, customer service, and competitive pricing.
- Handle objections professionally while demonstrating value and building trust.
- Prepare and present proposals and pricing while partnering with management throughout the sales process.
Pipeline Management & CRM
- Maintain accurate CRM records documenting prospect interactions, pipeline stages, and next steps.
- Track and report activity metrics including outbound calls, emails, meetings scheduled, proposals submitted, and deals closed.
- Manage the complete sales cycle from prospecting through signed agreement for SMB accounts.
- Meet or exceed established activity goals and revenue targets.
Client Onboarding & Relationship Management
- Partner with the operations team to ensure efficient onboarding and successful service implementation.
- Maintain communication with new clients during the first 90 days to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for account growth.
- Develop long-term relationships with key client contacts to maximize retention and referral opportunities.
Market Intelligence
- Stay informed on background screening industry trends, competitor offerings, regulatory updates, and market developments.
- Share customer feedback, objections, and competitive intelligence with leadership.
- Participate in virtual industry events, webinars, and educational opportunities to strengthen industry knowledge.
Requirements / Qualifications
Sales Experience
- Minimum of 1–3 years of inside sales, business development, or outbound sales experience within the employment background screening industry.
- Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding sales quotas and activity goals.
- Comfortable making a high volume of outbound calls daily.
- Experience managing a full sales cycle from prospecting through closing.
- Strong consultative selling skills with the ability to identify client needs and recommend solutions.
Communication & Professionalism
- Excellent verbal communication and phone presentation skills.
- Strong written communication skills for emails, proposals, and follow-up correspondence.
- Ability to quickly establish rapport with HR professionals, business owners, and operations leaders.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
Technology
- Proficiency with CRM platforms such as HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar systems.
- Experience using LinkedIn Sales Navigator, email sequencing tools, and virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
- Ability to quickly learn and confidently demonstrate software platforms and screening workflows.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience selling background screening services, HR technology, or staffing solutions.
- Familiarity with FCRA regulations, drug testing, and employment screening compliance.
- Experience selling to HR, Talent Acquisition, Risk, or Compliance professionals.
- Knowledge of background screening platforms.
- CISP (Certified Inside Sales Professional) credential from AA-ISP is a plus.
