As a Benefits Verification Specialist, you will verify medical, pharmacy, and mixed patient benefits through payer portals and by phone. Reporting to the Benefits Verification Manager, you will accurately document coverage information, support authorization and reimbursement activities, and meet daily productivity and quality expectations. This is a remote BYOD position paying $17.00 per hour, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:30 AM–5:30 PM EST, a one-hour unpaid lunch, and two paid 15-minute breaks.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance benefits and eligibility through payer portals and by phone.
• Review medical, pharmacy, and mixed benefit types, including coverage, cost share, provider options, and restrictions.
• Contact insurance companies and accurately document benefit details.
• Support prior authorizations and claims appeals as needed.
• Complete accurate data entry and electronic health record updates.
• Conduct quality reviews and participate in quality audits.
• Meet daily productivity targets.
• Identify and escalate missing information or reimbursement issues.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two or more years of related experience or a two-year degree.
• Strong computer, written communication, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Proficiency with Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to work remotely using a personal device.

Preferred Qualifications

• Entry-level experience in benefits verification or insurance verification.
• Experience with healthcare reimbursement, medical billing, prior authorization, or claims appeals.
• Experience working with electronic health records.
• Healthcare, insurance, or customer service experience.
