We are seeking an experienced practitioner to provide one-on-one physical rehabilitation sessions for a young adult female with complex neurological needs. This is a part-time, in-person position — 2 hours per day, five days per week — based in Novato, CA. The practitioner will implement a structured treatment curriculum developed by a supervising licensed Physical Therapist and coordinated by the family. Sessions are active and physical, involving functional mobility, movement-based exercises, outdoor walking, and stair training. We welcome applications from licensed PTAs as well as practitioners trained in recognized neurological rehabilitation modalities. General fitness, yoga, or wellness backgrounds without direct neurological rehabilitation experience will not be considered.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Implement the physical therapy curriculum as prescribed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Apply neurological rehabilitation techniques appropriate to the client’s condition and goals.
• Engage client in functional movement activities: walking on varied terrain and hills, stair training, dancing, and structured exercise.
• Maintain session notes and report progress to the supervising PT and family.
• Coordinate scheduling with the family and maintain a consistent, punctual daily schedule.

REQUIREMENTS

• Demonstrated experience in neurological rehabilitation — specifically with stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), aphasia, or apraxia — either in a licensed clinical role or through an accredited neurological rehab modality.
• Qualified backgrounds include: licensed PTA, Feldenkrais practitioner, Anat Baniel Method (ABM) practitioner, dance/movement therapist, or equivalent neurological rehab training.
• Ability to work within a PT-prescribed treatment plan and take direction from a supervising clinician and family.
• Physically fit; able to sustain two hours of active physical engagement including stair climbing and outdoor walking on hilly terrain.
• Punctual, organized, and reliable — consistent attendance is essential.
• Patient, professional demeanor with strong ability to build rapport with a client who has complex communication needs.
• CPR and First Aid certified (or willing to obtain prior to start).
• Minimum of two professional work references required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) with clinical neurological rehab experience.
• Direct experience working with patients with aphasia and/or apraxia.
• Background in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, or outpatient neurological clinic settings.
• Experience incorporating dance, movement, or recreational activity into therapeutic sessions.

COMPENSATION

$30–$50 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Position is 2 hours/day, 5 days/week (approximately 10 hours per week).
