Maintenance Manager

Location: Sylmar, CA (San Fernando Valley) Job Type: Contract (23 weeks) Industry: Manufacturing Job Summary The Maintenance Supervisor will lead and develop the in-house maintenance team at a dynamic manufacturing facility in Sylmar, CA. This is a hands-on leadership role with direct responsibility for building a robust preventive maintenance program, minimizing equipment downtime, and ensuring smooth, safe, and efficient plant operations. The role requires strong technical skills across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as experience in supervising technicians and managing maintenance programs using CMMS. Key Responsibilities Lead and coach the maintenance crew, assigning work orders, setting priorities, and ensuring on-time, safe completion of all repairs and service calls Build, implement, and manage a preventive maintenance (PM) program, including scheduling, work orders, parts management, and downtime tracking Troubleshoot and resolve equipment breakdowns, drive root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions Coordinate maintenance activities with production and other departments to minimize operational disruptions Manage outside contractors and vendors, ensuring work meets scope, schedule, and quality expectations Track maintenance spend, parts usage, and labor hours; identify and elevate cost or efficiency issues Maintain accurate documentation in the CMMS (maintenance software), including PM schedules and work order histories Identify and recommend new tools, equipment, and process improvements to expand in-house capabilities Promote and enforce safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and compliance with OSHA regulations Communicate proactively with management about equipment risks and schedule threats Skills Emphasized Troubleshooting Preventive maintenance CMMS Mechanical systems Electrical systems Hydraulics Pneumatics PLC familiarity Team leadership Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred Blueprints and schematics reading Recruiter Insights Immediate impact: The supervisor will build and own the PM program from the ground up, gaining true leadership experience.
