As Utah's premier metal recycling center, our experience is second to none; and over the years we have worked with thousands of customers, from local residents with a few pounds of cans to large companies with truckloads of scrap material. Metro's Non-Ferrous department is currently seeking a Scrap Processor/Buyer

Basic Job Duties:

• Greets and helps unload non-ferrous customers
• Identifies and sorts different types of materials
• Must be courteous and patient with employees and customers.
• Helps with housekeeping during down times
• Must be willing to fill at other tasks when needed and performing only those jobs on which they have been trained
• Will be out in the different weather conditions
• Responsible for observing and following all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
• Responsible for timely, understandable, legible and accurate paperwork.
• Able to handle and work with demanding customers

• Must be willing to fill at other tasks when needed by supervisor
• Must be able to quickly and efficiently learn the metal recycling industry
• Ability to work a flexible work schedule Monday through Saturday if needed

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to provide quality customer service
• 1 year of customer service experience required
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Must be able to pass background check along with drug and alcohol testing
• Able to work in the heat of the summer and cold of the winter
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time
• Good attendance and punctuality is a must
• Ability to provide quality customer service
• Effective written communication skills and ability to complete paperwork promptly
• Analytical and problem solving skills
• Understand computer basics

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and work on your feet for extended periods of time
• The employee occasionally is required to lift up to 80 pounds. The employee is frequently required to use hands, fingers; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crouch.
