Requirement/Must Have:
- Experience with Accounts Payable.
- Experience with Accounts Receivable.
- Experience with reconciling complex discrepancies between accounts.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and problem solving skills.
- Motivated, self-starter who is comfortable working on a team and individually.
- Extensive knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of public accounting.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws, policies, and procedures as they pertain to accounting and bookkeeping.
- Extensive knowledge of automated accounting systems.
- Ability to lead budget preparations.
- Ability to direct the preparation and interpretation of complex financial statements and reports.
- Ability to analyze and solve complex accounting problems.
- Ability to develop new, or modify existing, accounting procedures and methods.
- Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records and financial reports to assess compliance with procedural standards.
- Maintain or examine the records of government agencies.
- Advise the appointing authority and/or controller of the status of all accounts.
- Develop policies and procedures for general accounting and bookkeeping.
- Oversee usage of the computerized accounting system.
- Establish work methods and control measures for accounting/bookkeeping functions.
- Certify the accuracy of the agency's financial records and accounts.
- Review reports for grant reconciliation for grant-funded accounts.
- Direct program staff in accounting matters relating to specific program funding.
- Assist the controller in budget preparation.
- Manage, analyze, and report information to support accurate decision-making and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
- Prepare financial statements, monitor budgets, reconcile accounts, analyze trends, and maintain accurate records of financial transactions.
- Assist in interpreting complex financial data, identifying opportunities for process improvements, and providing guidance to internal stakeholders.
