About the Company
At Modern Eyes, we believe great eye care starts with kindness, trust, and truly listening to people. We are a friendly, local eyecare practice combining personalized care with modern technology, thoughtful communication, and independent eyewear. Our team is committed to making every patient feel welcome, supported, and understood from the moment they walk through our doors.
Why Join Modern Eyes?
While our patients come first, our team is a very close second. We believe great care starts with a caring workplace built on compassion, patience, curiosity, and teamwork.
At Modern Eyes, you’ll be part of a close-knit team that takes pride in helping people feel heard, comfortable, and confident. This is a place for someone who values relationships, craftsmanship, and the satisfaction of guiding patients from prescription to eyewear they truly love.
If you are motivated, caring, and excited to keep learning, Modern Eyes is a place where you can build a stable, meaningful role, grow your skills, take ownership of the patient experience, and do work that truly matters.
Position Summary
The Optician works with the Optometrist and patient care team to provide an excellent experience for patients from prescription to finished eyewear. This includes frame and lens selection, measurements, orders, dispensing, adjustments, repairs, troubleshooting, patient education, and maintaining an organized optical area.
We are looking for an energetic, experienced optician with a current Massachusetts optician’s license, strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to patient care.
Modern Eyes is not a high-pressure sales environment. We focus on education, trust, accuracy, thoughtful frame selection, personalized lens recommendations, and helping patients make choices that genuinely fit their needs.
This role is primarily focused on optical care, with collaboration across the clinical and administrative teams as needed. There are opportunities to develop in areas such as optical leadership, frame buying, lab and vendor coordination, apprentice training, specialty lens support, and patient experience leadership.
This is a full-time position, approximately 40 hours per week, with a Tuesday-Saturday schedule. No Sundays, late evenings, or major holiday work.

Support a smooth patient flow and positive patient experience throughout the office
Assist with contact lens hygiene education and insertion and removal training for soft, RGP, Ortho-K, and other specialty contact lenses as directed
Communicate with labs, vendors, insurance plans, and other care partners as needed
As part of a small, collaborative practice, this role may occasionally assist with basic clinical or administrative support when needed
