Division Director - Pulmonary Medicine

The Division of Pulmonary Medicine seeks a dynamic and innovative new Division Director. Consistently recognized as one of the best in the nation, recently ranked the #2 Pulmonology and Lung Surgery Program in the nation by U.S. News & World Report (2025-26), the division director is supported by an endowed chair and has the opportunity to lead one of the nation’s premier pediatric pulmonary and sleep medicine programs, shaping its future while building upon a legacy of excellence, innovation, collaboration, and impact. The next division director will: Be a visionary leader with a demonstrated commitment to exceptional patient outcomes, scientific advancement, and academic excellence. Be able to articulate a compelling vision for the future while fostering innovation in both clinical care and research. Recognize, support, and cultivate the diverse professional aspirations of individual faculty members. The division is characterized by a unique culture of collegiality, mutual respect, and shared purpose that has been instrumental in driving excellence across all mission areas. Preserving and strengthening this culture should be a central priority for the new leader. Have strong administrative and financial leadership skills, effectively managing the division's resources to ensure a sustainable clinical and academic environment, support strategic growth, and provide the infrastructure necessary for faculty, trainees, and staff to thrive. The ability to balance fiscal stewardship with investments in people, innovation, and program development will be critical to maintaining the division's national leadership and continued success. Qualifications and Experience M.D. or M.D./Ph.D., with board certification in pediatric pulmonology Ability to obtain State of Ohio Medical Board licensure Rank of associate or full professor with eligibility for appointment as an affiliated faculty at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine Strong national & international reputation in the field of pediatric pulmonology Track record of successfully implementing new initiatives that meet the challenges of academic medicine & clinical care Accomplished in faculty leadership, people management, planning & facilitation Demonstration of sustained excellence in research productivity, clinical care, and/or mentorship/teaching of trainees and junior faculty Knowledge of relevant federal and state laws and regulations Experience in a complex, integrated academic medical setting Demonstration of a personal style that facilitates communication, collaboration, trust, credibility, and confidence among divisional faculty and across the health system Commitment to uphold principles of equal opportunity in alignment with Cincinnati Children's culture and beliefs Genuine understanding and respect for the tradition of collaborative science at Cincinnati Children's The Division of Pulmonary Medicine Comprised of 42 primary faculty and clinical providers, along with business, clinical and research staff Features 9 outstanding programs and centers in clinical care in clinical care Two ACGME accredited clinical fellowships and one in bronchology NIH/NIDDK-funded P30 Personalized Cystic Fibrosis Therapy and Cystic Fibrosis Research Development Program (RDP) Advanced pulmonary imaging and computational modeling infrastructure NIH funded T35 to train medical students and a T32 in partnership with the Division of Pulmonary Biology Over $66 million in extramural funding from 2020-2025; $18 million in NIH funded clinical trials in the Sleep Center About Cincinnati Children's Named to the U.S. News & World Report Best Children's Hospitals Honor Roll for more than 15 years Consistently ranks in the top three among all departments of pediatrics in NIH funding 762 licensed beds Over 170,000 Emergency Department visits and 33,000 admissions per year About Cincinnati, a hidden jewel in the Midwest!
