Assistant Wrestling Coach

Position Description Jacobs High School is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the role of assistant wrestling coach, with a strong knowledge of IHSA Wrestling and a focus on student‑athletic achievement. Must be able to coach at all levels within the program, coach various areas, be organized, flexible, take direction from the head coach or direct supervisor, and work and communicate with parents and the Booster Club. Performance Responsibilities/Requirements/Qualifications Previous high school wrestling coaching experience is required. Enhance, improve, and maximize students' athletic skills required to compete at a high level. Support student‑athlete's strength and speed training, fundraising, organization of equipment, and other tasks directed to maximize student achievement and ensure accurate records are maintained. Organize and oversee specific program levels or areas of responsibility. Communicate with the Head Coach and/or Athletic Director to secure facilities, ensuring a safe practice/competition environment for students. Support the philosophy, programmatic instruction of sequential fundamentals, and proper conditioning communicated by the head coach. Communicate and plan with the head coach practice sessions and competition strategies to ensure the health and physical well‑being of the student participants. Coordinate with the head coach and Athletic Director for all in‑season practices. Ensure all student participants at his/her program level are in compliance with D300 and IHSA requirements including current athletic physical, Code of Conduct, fees paid, and academic eligibility before practice, tryout, and competition. Model and instill the values of sportsmanship and fair play to all participants, enforcing consequences for breach of such standards. Attend all student‑athlete practices and games, and monitor proper supervision at all practices, games, and on school‑provided transportation. Maintain and provide the head coach with end‑of‑season individual and team records and statistics. Participate in a mandatory preseason parent meeting. Assist the head coach in planning for the seasonal recognition program. Assist in the orderly distribution and collection of uniforms and equipment. Engage in personal professional development activities. Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Athletic Director. Application Procedures Apply online.
