Staff Accountant

Location: Santa Ana, CA (Hybrid — 3 days on-site / 2 days remote)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Pay: $28.50 – $31.00 per hour, DOE
Hours: 8:30 - 5:00 ( M-F)

About the Role
Are you passionate about using your accounting skills to support social impact work? We're looking for a Staff Accountant to join a nonprofit finance team where day-to-day numbers translate directly into stronger, more resilient community organizations.
In this role, you'll support the accounting needs of multiple community-based projects, ensuring accurate financial reporting and full compliance with state and federal requirements — all while working alongside a team dedicated to building more just and equitable communities.

What You'll Do

• Record day-to-day accounting transactions and complete month-end close procedures, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and bank reconciliations
• Post journal entries for assigned projects and maintain up-to-date accounting documentation and records
• Issue vendor payments and record incoming funds from grantors and funders
• Support grant and contract management, including planning, monitoring, and reporting
• Serve as a point of contact for assigned projects, building strong working relationships and addressing their financial needs
• Perform other accounting-related duties as assigned

What You'll Need

• At least 1 year of accounting or auditing experience;
• Prior experience in nonprofit accounting or audit is strongly preferred
• QuickBooks experience highly desired
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field
• Additional 2 years of relevant nonprofit accounting experience in leu of educational background
