Welder Fitter/Fabricator - 1st Shift

Other duties may be assigned.Position, align, fit, weld parts to form complete units or subunits, follow blueprints and layout specifications, using fixtures, welding torches and hand tools.Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers and measuring tapes.Lay out and examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed in order to ensure that specifications are met.Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars and hammers.Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, and/or bolt straps, or bolt parts in position for welding or riveting.Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences.Move parts into position, manually or by using hoists or cranes.Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions.Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind and/or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.Detect faulty operation of equipment and/or defective materials and notify supervisors.Examine work pieces for defects to ensure conformance with specifications.Recognize, set up and operate hand and power tools common to the industry.Requirements:Follow necessary MGS and customer-specific procedures and work instructions.Read complex paperwork/drawings or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials and process for fabrication.Execute tasks and responsibilities as required by the Quality System.Follow safety guidelines and uses all required personal protective equipment.Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to work overtime and to meet schedule demands.Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.Work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
