Job Type: Regular Pay Range: $25.02 - $30.42 Hourly Department: Health and Human Services FLSA Exemption Status: Non-Exempt About the Opportunity: Washington County Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking passionate and engaged individuals for career opportunities as an Administrative Specialist II (AS II). * This recruitment is specifically for HHS and will be used to fill future full-time, part-time, variable hour, temporary, seasonal, and limited duration vacancies including bilingual positions that may become available within the next six months. * ** Anyone (including current county employees) interested in HHS Administrative Specialist II positions must submit an application to be considered for future openings that become available within the next six months. ** General Duties: Our AS II staff are responsible for providing a variety of administrative, clerical, and project-related support using independent judgment in content and style and have considerable public contact in explaining policies and procedures. These positions provide support that requires the ability to learn the procedures and operating details of the applicable work unit. Incumbents prepare correspondences and other documents using Microsoft Office 365 software or equivalent, perform data entry in a wide variety of databases, and process documents using considerable responsible judgment. General Work Schedule & Location: The majority of full-time AS II positions have a schedule of Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm. Some positions will require to provide in-person services only, but others may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule. Additionally, based on business needs, some positions may be scheduled to work during weekends/holidays. Depending on the position, the work location may vary between Public Services Building, Elam Young Parkway Office, and Service Center East at Murray. Position Types: Part-time regular: Scheduled to work an average of 20 hours per week; will accrue sick and vacation time; and are eligible for holiday pay prorated based on the hours worked. These positions are not eligible for medical, dental, or vision benefits. Variable hour: At-will and hours are limited to maximum of 20 hours per week. These positions will accrue sick time and are not eligible for vacation accrual, holiday pay, or other customary benefits such as medical, dental, or vision insurance benefits. Temporary: At-will and hours are limited to maximum of 24 hours per week, up to 6 months of duration. These positions will accrue sick time and are not eligible for vacation accrual, holiday pay, or other customary benefits such as medical, dental, or vision insurance benefits. Seasonal: At-will and may work up to 40 hours per week for no longer than 6 months of duration. These positions will accrue sick time and are not eligible for vacation accrual, holiday pay, or other customary benefits such as medical, dental, or vision insurance benefits. Limited Duration: At-will, limited to the duration of the grant or funding source, or the duration required to complete the project assigned to the position. Full-time limited durations are eligible for the same benefits as regular positions. Part-time limited duration positions are eligible for the same benefits as part-time regular positions. Bilingual Positions: Designated bilingual positions require that the incumbent have knowledge of another language (primarily Spanish) besides English. It is required to possess precise writing skills (including spelling, grammar, and punctuation), fluent speaking skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Upon successfully passing the applicable proficiency assessments in a selected language, positions that are eligible for the bilingual differential pay will offer in an amount of 5% of the base pay rate, or a flat rate of seventy-five ($75) per pay period, whichever is greater. Pay periods are every two weeks. These services include case management, protective services, eligibility, and foster care licensing/certification. Minimum and Special Qualifications Education and Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent; and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience providing administrative or clerical support. Possession of Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) or other applicable certifications may substitute for up to one (1) year of the experience requirement. Additional Requirements: Some positions may require oral and written fluency in another language. Some positions may be required to possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.
