About the Opportunity
Direct Counsel is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate with 3–5 years of experience to join a well-established law firm's litigation practice in New York. The associate will handle complex commercial disputes and work closely with senior attorneys on litigation strategy, case management, and client-facing matters. Responsibilities

• Manage complex commercial litigation matters in state and federal courts.

• Conduct legal research and draft complaints, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents.

• Manage discovery, including document review, written discovery, and deposition preparation.

• Take and defend depositions and participate in other litigation proceedings.

• Appear in state and federal courts as needed.

• Develop case strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys and clients.

• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and other relevant parties.

• Manage case deadlines and litigation workstreams effectively.

• Participate in client development initiatives and other business development activities.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.

• 3–5 years of complex commercial litigation experience.

• Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.

• Experience with depositions, discovery, case management, and motion practice.

• Experience appearing in state and federal courts.

• Admission to the New York Bar, in good standing, or active steps toward admission.

• New Jersey Bar admission is a plus.

• Strong academic credentials, communication skills, and professional judgment.

Compensation & Benefits

• Annual base salary range of $240,000–$320,000, commensurate with experience.
