Sanitation Manager

Job Summary The Sanitation Manager is responsible for directing all activities associated with the sanitation operation, overseeing sanitation functions to ensure compliance with company quality management programs and food safety systems, and ensuring Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, and Cost expectations are delivered. Location & Compensation Location: 30 Inip Dr, Inwood, NY 11096 Salary Range: $80,000–$90,000 Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Disability insurance 401(k) Paid time off Responsibilities Strictly follow and enforce food safety and quality policies, GMPs, and SOPs. Coordinate with department managers and QA Manager to ensure proper follow‑up on customer and regulatory issues (complaints, audits, and information requests). Provide leadership and guidance to improve, maintain, and validate safety and sanitation practices and procedures. Examine all equipment to ensure it meets governmental standards; develop corrective plans when violations occur. Perform routine audits and sanitation inspections of equipment; recommend maintenance/repair needs to maintain compliance. Consult with management and production personnel on sanitation problems and recommend changes to equipment, plant layout, lighting, ventilation, or work practices. Ensure the unit is always audit‑ready and support all audits. Continuously verify and validate sanitation effectiveness; propose better cleaning/sanitizing methods to maximize results while minimizing cost. Develop and deliver training programs related to sanitation law and company best practices, in both one‑on‑one and group settings. Keep detailed records of all sanitation‑related activities and issues, including inspections, violations, and resolutions. Report potential contamination and suspicious activity to the QA manager immediately. Administer and supervise porters and third‑party cleaning companies; work closely with chemical supply vendors. Supervisory Responsibilities Conduct performance evaluations for employees, providing specific and detailed feedback on management and leadership skills and goal attainment. Ensure compliance with company Wage & Hour policy, including rest and meal breaks, and enforce company processes. Train and monitor employees on proper work procedures to maximize productivity while minimizing labor and food expenses. Monitor daily manpower planning and schedule employees. Retain employees and reduce turnover. Coach, counsel, and prepare corrective actions for employees in compliance with applicable union/collective bargaining agreements. Review and ensure employees in the chain of command are assigned to correct cost centers and job titles. Verify union‑represented employees’ pay rates based on wage scales and seniority. Qualifications Education High School degree or GED required. Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in a related field or equivalent preferred. Work Experience Minimum of 5 years of sanitation and supervisory experience in a high‑volume, manufacturing environment required. 2 years in the food industry or airline related experience preferred. Technical Skills Excellent organizational and time‑management skills. Knowledge of HACCP, SQF standards. High level of communication, cooperation, and teamwork with all departments. Language & Communication Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and employees. Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers. Bi‑lingual is a plus; Vietnamese language skills beneficial. Ability to give daily performance feedback to employees.
