Serving as a Training Admissions Administrator GS-1712-11/12 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is located in the Office of the Associate Director for Training Ops (TOPS), Training Management Operations Directorate (TOPS/TMO), Training Resources Coordination Division (TOPS/TMO/TRC), Training Resources Analysis and Allocations Branch (TOPS/TMO/TRC/TRAAB), located in Glynco, Georgia.

The primary purpose of this position is to actively participate in the component's registration and allocation process. This position services as a Training Admissions Administrator in support of eFLETC but primarily responsible for managing the training projections, allocations, and registration for all state, local, rural, tribal, territorial, and federal agencies.

Typical duties include:

  • Analyzing projection and allocation information to prepare reports for the component's management to use in response to various inquiries.
  • Maintaining complex databases used for housing student training statistics.
  • Initiating open and ongoing communications with the component's management and agencies regarding their training needs and to project and allocate students for the upcoming fiscal year.
  • Recommending appropriate programs to meet the training needs for officers.

Specialized Experience:

Specialized Experience at the GS-12:

You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as:

1) Developing an agency's annual allocation plan to include distributing funds and making projections; 2) Evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of all training programs using a comprehensive database; 3) Providing recommendations to senior-level management regarding the creation of new training programs and/or modifying existing training programs to meet the organization's needs, and; 4) Identifying complex issues and/or preparing solutions involved with project projections.

Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

Specialized Experience at the GS-11:

You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as:
  • 1) Analyzing projection and allocation information to prepare reports for the component's management to use in response to inquiries; 2) Investigating problems that arise within the program registration process and offering solutions to remedy scheduling issues and; 3) Interpreting data that is housed within a database to draw conclusions and make recommendations pertaining to funding or scheduling.; OR
  • A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.; OR
  • LL.M., if in Education or a subject area related to the position to be filled; OR
  • A combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience as described above that, when combined, equal 100% of the total requirement. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.

NOTE: Only graduate education in excess of the first two years may be used to qualify for the GS-11 level.

Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Re-employed annuitants' annual salaries will be reduced by the amount of their retirement annuity and by further cost of living increases. FERS retirees receiving a FERS annuity supplement must also be aware that, like social security benefits, their FERS annuity supplement is subject to an earnings test and may be reduced if the salary earned is more than the social security exempt amount of earnings. Physical Demands: The work is generally sedentary, clerical data entry via computers, with no special physical demands required. Physical lifting of files or boxes should not exceed 30 pounds.
