Position Summary
The Shift Leader supports the General Manager by overseeing shift operations, ensuring quality control, customer service excellence, and adherence to Penn Station policies. This role trains crew members, monitors food prep, and ensures the restaurant meets cleanliness and service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise crew during assigned shifts
- Train team members on sandwich procedures, prep standards, and customer service
- Ensure proper rotation, prep accuracy, and quality control
- Monitor turn times and drive fast, friendly service
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the shift
- Handle cash drawers, register issues, and basic troubleshooting
- Support inventory counts, bread counts, and prep sheets
- Communicate effectively with management and crew
- Ensure compliance with Penn Station operational policies
Qualifications
- Prior restaurant or leadership experience preferred
- Strong communication and coaching skills
- Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure
- Reliable and consistent work habits
- Ability to lift 30–50 lbs and stand for long periods
