Performs radiographic procedures within assigned areas in accordance with department protocols.Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. EEO/AA/Disability/Veteran Responsibilities 1.Performs all diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures within assigned areas. 1.1Performs radiographs in a prompt and professional manner as observed by supervisor and staff and patient feedback. 2.Reviews all necessary documentation to perform diagnostic procedures. 2.1Reviews all radiologic consults for information or special instructions as observed by radiologists, medical staff and supervisors. 3.Performs preventative visual and manual inspections for each radiographic room/equipment assigned ensuring appropriate maintenance and cleanliness. 3.1Performs daily room/equipment inspections. Reports all necessary problems to appropriate individual as indicated by random review of equipment log. 4.Participates in the training and development,instruction of staff and radiology students. 4.1Monitors student techs in the performance of their clinical duties in accordance with program guidelines, as observed by clinical coordinator. 5.Demonstrates basic leadership skills and professional growth. 5.1Demonstrates ability to function in any position within assigned areas to ensure continuation of patient services as required as observed by supervisor. 6.Accurately enters all applicable information into the computer system and charges for procedures. 6.1Verfies all information for accuracy and completeness and reports all errors to manager. 7.Plans and/or implements care for assigned patients. 7.1Demonstrates knowledge of developmental stages from adolescence to old age and applies development theories/concepts when planning and implementing care for the adult patient as observed by supervisor and as indicated by feedback from staff. 8.Contributes to an effective quality management and quality control program for assigned area that is consistent with overall departmental/hospital quality management plan. 8.1Monitors Q.A. activities in accordance to section plan as observed by supervisor. 9.Patient Satisfaction: ED & Inpatient scores Inpatient Wait Time: ED Wait Time: ED Courtesy: 10.Chaperone patients when necessary Qualifications EDUCATION Graduation from an A.M.A.approved Radiologic Technology program and ARRT registry eligible. AS degree preferred. EXPERIENCE Demonstrated technical skills to meet entry level standards of routine radiography. RT(R) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) 1st attempt within 30 days of graduating, and Connecticut State Radiographer License is required within 120 days of hire date. CPR Certification within six (6) months. LICENSURE ARRT 1st attempt within 30 days of graduating and CT License after 120 days hire date. SPECIAL_SKILLS Demonstrates a basic understanding and technical skill with routine radiography, CR / Digital imaging techniques, knowledge of computer / Pacs applications, and good organizational and communication /customer service skills. ACCOUNTABILITY Must meet the performance expectations as defined in the Radiologic Technologist Trainee position description. Performance and competency will be assessed continually by the supervisor/manager. Any areas that are determined to be unsatisfactory will require additional training and re-evaluation within 30 days. It is the expectation that Trainees will become board certified, licensed, and competent to be promoted to a Rad Tech 1 within 120 days. COMPLEXITY Demonstrates planning and decision making skills necessary to manage a patient schedule with minimal assistance and utilize radiographic imaging equipment efficiently. Active participant in clinical research and teaching and training of new technical staff and students. PHYSICAL_DEMAND Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds to assist with patient transfers.
