Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)

Position Overview: On-call per unit needs. If called in, candidate must be able to arrive within one hour of call in. Southwest General reserves the right to cancel up to one (1) 12-hour shift per 2-week pay period. The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality, compassionate, and efficient care to patients in a fast-paced, dynamic emergency department setting. The ED RN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, provides critical patient assessments, and ensures optimal outcomes while maintaining patient safety and confidentiality. On call per unit needs. 36 hours not guaranteed. SWG can cancel up to (1) 12-hour shift per 2-week pay period.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Care
• Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients' physical and emotional health.
• Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed.
• Monitor and document patient responses to care and adjust plans as necessary.
• Provide education to patients and families about conditions, treatments, and follow-up care.
• Emergency Response
• Triage patients effectively to prioritize care based on the severity of illness or injury.
• Assist in resuscitation, stabilization, and advanced life support procedures during emergencies.
• Operate and maintain emergency equipment, including defibrillators, monitors, and ventilators.
• Collaboration and Communication
• Work closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare team members to coordinate care.
• Communicate patient status, changes, and care plans clearly to team members and families.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and case discussions.
• Compliance and Safety
• Adhere to established protocols, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records (EMR).
• Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff by following infection control and safety protocols.
• Professional Development
• Participate in continuing education and training programs to stay current with best practices.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and emergency department performance metrics.

Qualifications:

• Education: Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year in an emergency or critical care setting preferred.

Skills:

• 2 years of minimum nursing experience in specialty area - Required - 2 Years
• OH Nursing License - Required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS through American Heart Association - Required
• NIHSS and TNCC - Required
