This position is responsible for defining and scaling best practices for business planning, investment governance, and value realization across the Technology portfolio.A key focus of this role is building and maintaining forward-looking business and investment plans, ensuring alignment between strategy, funding, delivery, and measurable outcomes. You will enable a more disciplined, transparent, and performance-driven portfolio through strong analytical frameworks, standardized processes, and actionable insights.Job DescriptionWhat you’ll do:Forward-Looking Business & Investment PlanningDevelop and maintain multi-year technology business plans and investment roadmaps aligned to strategic prioritiesBuild forward-looking financial models and forecasts covering budget, investment timing, benefits, and resource needsPartner with Technology and business leaders to ensure alignment between strategy, demand, and funding plansContinuously refine plans based on changing priorities, performance trends, and emerging opportunitiesBusiness Case & Investment FrameworksDefine and standardize business case development practices, including cost, benefits, assumptions, risks, and KPIsEnsure all investments are evaluated using consistent, data-driven criteriaImprove quality, comparability, and transparency of investment proposals across TechnologyAdoption of Portfolio Planning & Intake PracticesDrive adoption of standardized intake, planning, and prioritization processesEnsure initiatives are clearly defined with measurable objectives and value outcomesCoach stakeholders to develop well-structured, value-driven proposals aligned to portfolio prioritiesValue Measurement & Performance TrackingDefine and implement KPIs and metrics for benefits realization and investment performanceTrack planned vs. actual results across the portfolio, including financials, benefits, and outcomesIdentify value leakage, performance gaps, and risks to achieving expected ROIEnable enterprise visibility into portfolio performance and strategic value deliveryPortfolio Analytics & Decision SupportDevelop and maintain portfolio dashboards, reports, and analytics modelsProvide insights to support investment prioritization, scenario planning, and trade-off decisionsAnalyze trends across initiatives to identify systemic risks and opportunities for optimizationPractice Definition & Continuous ImprovementEstablish and refine standards for business planning, investment tracking, and value managementDrive adoption of consistent tools, templates, and methodologies across Technology teamsImprove data quality, reporting accuracy, and decision-making capabilitiesAdvance organizational maturity in value-based portfolio management and performance measurementWhat we’re looking for:Education:Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business or related field of study; Or associate's degree in computer science or related field of study with 2 years of relevant work experience; Or High school diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant work experience.Experience:In addition to any experience required above, 13 years of relevant work experience is required.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in business analysis, portfolio planning, finance, or strategy rolesStrong experience building business plans, investment models, and financial forecastsProven ability to define and implement KPIs, performance tracking frameworks, and value measurement approachesDemonstrated experience influencing stakeholders and driving process adoption at scaleStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsExperience in Technology PMO, Portfolio Management, or investment governance functionsBackground in financial modeling, budgeting, or capital planningFamiliarity with benefits realization and portfolio performance frameworksExperience supporting executive-level planning and reportingWhat Success Looks Like:Clear, actionable multi-year business and investment plans aligned to strategyHigh adoption of standardized planning, intake, and business case practicesImproved visibility into portfolio investment performance and ROIStrong alignment between planned investments, delivery execution, and realized valueReduction in value leakage and increased confidence in planning and forecastingAmerican Electric Power (On-Site)#LI-Onsite#AEPCareersAt AEP, we’re more than just an energy company — we’re a team of dedicated professionals committed to delivering safe, reliable, and innovative energy solutions.
