The work we do together advances the world's technology.As a Field Service Engineer [Customer Engineer] at Applied Materials, you serve as the direct liaison with customers, collaborating closely to install, maintain, and upgrade equipment. You'll use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques to assess and address technical issues. Your responsibilities include performing preventative and corrective maintenance on various systems such as electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems. Additionally, you'll coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service.This is an exciting opportunity for recent graduates who enjoy hands-on problem solving, working directly with customers, and traveling to support the installation and optimization of industry-leading equipment. If you enjoy exploring new locations, working in dynamic environments, meeting new people, and solving technical challenges firsthand, this role provides a unique opportunity to do all of that while accelerating your professional growth.What You'll DoInstall, configure, and support Applied Materials equipment at customer sites.Learn to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and system-related issues with support from experienced engineers.Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment.Work alongside senior engineers during equipment installations, upgrades, and customer projects.Build strong relationships with customers by providing professional technical support and service.Document service activities and communicate project updates to customers and internal teams.Follow all safety, quality, and environmental procedures.Continuously develop your technical knowledge through hands-on experience, training programs, and mentorship.Minimum Qualifications:Completion of an Associate degree or Bachelors DegreeExperience using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, or digital multimetersStrong mechanical and technical aptitude.Ability to read and follow technical documentation and procedures.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a passport for business travel.Ability to meet customer site safety and environmental requirements.Preferred Qualifications:Internship, co-op, research, or project experience involving mechanical, electrical, vacuum, pneumatic, hydraulic, or manufacturing systems.Exposure to semiconductor, manufacturing, industrial, aerospace, automotive, or similar technical environments.Experience gained through internships, laboratory work, engineering projects, co-op programs, or other hands-on technical experiences.Demonstrated leadership through student organizations, team projects, athletics, military service, or community involvement.Physical Requirements:Standing and walking for extended periodsWorking in confined spaces and cleanroom environmentsClimbing ladders and working at heightsLifting and carrying up to 35 poundsUsing hand and power toolsDistinguishing between colors for equipment and wiring identificationWearing personal protective equipment (PPE), including coveralls, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, and face shieldsWorking around electrical systems and moderate industrial noiseTime Type: Full timeEmployee Type: Assignee / RegularTravel: Yes, 75% of the TimeRelocation Eligible: YesThe salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
