Make a meaningful difference supporting students in an educational setting near Fremont, CA. A rewarding contract opportunity is available for a Paraprofessional to provide direct support to a student with a complex profile, primarily focusing on autism, during their 60-day trial at a school serving students with visual impairments. While experience with visual impairment (VI) is a plus, training can be provided for this aspect of the caseload. Your compassion and guidance will play a pivotal role in helping this student adjust and thrive during an important transition period.
Key Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a paraprofessional in school settings preferred
- Familiarity supporting students with autism required
- Willingness to learn strategies for supporting students with visual impairments
- Patience, adaptability, and strong communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with educators, specialists, and families
- Reliable, professional, and committed to the student’s success
Role Responsibilities:
- Work one-on-one with the referred student throughout the school day
- Act as a support link between the student and the classroom environment
- Implement recommendations from the educational team and specialists
- Assist in managing behaviors, promoting engagement, and fostering communication
- Encourage social interaction and independence to the greatest extent possible
- Adapt and modify classroom materials or routines as directed
- Track progress and provide feedback to the educational team
This is a full-time role, Monday through Friday, during the student’s 60-day trial period. You will make a positive impact in a supportive, dynamic educational environment.
