Our client in Dallas is seeking a Part-Time Accountant (20 hours a week - remote) for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Dallas, TX. This role will support daily accounting operations, financial reporting, grant tracking, audit preparation, and compliance activities. The ideal candidate has accounting experience, strong attention to detail, and preferably a background in nonprofit or fund accounting.
Responsibilities:
• Process vendor invoices accurately, verify supporting documentation, and prepare payments in a timely manner.
• Record incoming payments, track outstanding balances, and help maintain current accounts receivable records.
• Reconcile bank statements against internal financial records and investigate any discrepancies to ensure accuracy.
• Enter and update accounting data in QuickBooks while maintaining organized and complete financial documentation.
• Review and code invoices to the appropriate accounts in accordance with company accounting practices.
• Assist with routine financial reporting and support month-end activities by preparing account information as needed.
• Communicate with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve billing questions, payment issues, and account variances.
Responsibilities
- Track restricted and unrestricted funds in accordance with donor or grant requirements
- Record daily transactions, including revenue, expenses, and in-kind donations
- Process accounts payable and receivable
- Maintain financial records, grant documentation, and vendor files
- Reconcile bank statements and support month-end close
- Assist with monthly financial reporting, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reporting
- Support audit preparation and Form 990 documentation
- Help allocate expenses across programs, administration, and fundraising
- Assist with budget reporting and maintain accounting templates and schedules
Qualifications
- 3+ years of accounting experience
- Nonprofit and fund accounting experience preferred
- Experience with AP/AR, reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit support
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Excel preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
