The booklet must be completed in its entirety, and all required background documents must be uploaded. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, patrolling a designated area in the county to preserve the peace and to prevent and discover the commission of crime, directing traffic at pedestrian crossings and street intersections, enforcing motor vehicle operating and parking regulations, and performing communication functions. A Police Officer is also required to conduct preliminary investigations at the scene of a crime, administer first aid, gather evidence, obtain witnesses, make arrests, and testify as a witness in court. Employees work varying shifts and may be called upon to work irregular hours. Experience: No previous experience in law enforcement is required. Education: Graduation from High School Other: Be a U. S. citizen or a permanent legal resident of the United States and an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Armed Forces who has applied to obtain United States citizenship and the application is still pending approval; and not less than twenty-one (21) years old as of the anticipated first day of employment as a sworn Police Officer.
