Interviews juvenile defendants and applicants who are applying for various positions with the Bexar County Juvenile Probation Department such as detention officer, probation officer, residential treatment officer, student intern, or volunteer; provides clinical supervision to Master's level staff, interns, and practicum students; testifies in court; and performs related duties as required. Job has critical impact on departmental operations and budget. Directly responsible for the safety of self and indirectly responsible for the safety of co-workers. Job responsibilities include supervision and training of mental health staff.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

A doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) or the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS) at the time the program was completed. Successful completion of a professional psychology internship training program that was accredited by APA. Experience in providing clinical care for patients in an ambulatory setting for at least two years preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of psychological testing and evaluation techniques. Skill in communicating effectively with individuals with mental health needs. Ability to provide crisis intervention and support in urgent emotional situations. Ability to interpret psychological tests and results and ability to formulate diagnostic impressions. xhyhwjd Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, outside organizations, and the general public.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

Must be licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists, or must be eligible to be licensed within 12 months of employment
