Materials Supervisor

Job DescriptionAbout the Role:Reporting to the Materials Manager this position will supervise employees in a warehouse environment. Plans and assigns work, enforces policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in warehouse processes, material handling equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions. YourResponsibilities:Ensures effective Employee RelationsProvides employee coaching and developmentHires and makes employment status recommendations and decisions in conjunction with other members of managementLeads a Continuous Improvement initiative focused on improvement of the Warehouse processes at the assigned plantCreates metrics to measure Warehouse productivity improvement opportunities and uses these metrics to address and eliminate wasteProvides training and mentoring to employees regarding Material Management methods and practicesManages departmental performance measures including visual controls, process and product audits and provides regular progress reports to managerPerforms incident investigations, problem solving reports, maintains proper inventory levels, manages department priorities, tracks absenteeism, and ensures Kronos is accurate and completed in a timely mannerEnsures operation of equipment by calling for repairs and evaluating equipment needsInitiates and fosters a spirit of cooperation within and between departmentsUpdates and maintains Safe Work InstructionsOther duties as assignedLet's Talk About Your Qualifications:1 to 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environmentMinimum three (3) years of shipping/receiving/stores experienceKnowledge of shipping/receiving practices, policies, and techniques.Knowledge of ERP operating systems is required.Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneouslyDemonstrated ability to lead people and achieve results through othersExperience with the following skills: Kanban, Poke Yoke, cellular manufacturing and 5SISO experience is a plusExperience in Lean Manufacturing and Material Flow is a plusProblem analysis and resolutionSupervision, including Associate retention, performance management, and corrective actionAn ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, cost, and Associate relationsLeadership: a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through othersWorking Conditions/Environment:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
