Job Overview Cabarrus County School District, Central Cabarrus High – Concord, North Carolina. Starting Date: Aug 5, 2026 Essential Functions In the absence of the regular classroom teacher, a substitute will assist students in learning subject matter and/or skills required for scheduled lessons and provide meaningful instruction for assigned classrooms. Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students. Maintains, as fully as possible, the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned. Assumes the responsibilities for instructing classes when a teacher is absent and any other duties delegated by the School Administrator. Assumes responsibility for overseeing student behavior in class, during lunch, and other activities. Follows all district and school policies, rules, and procedures that regular teachers are subject to. Salary Sub for a Certified Teacher – Sub has a Current/Expired License: $123 per day Sub for a Certified Teacher – Sub is Unlicensed: $118 per day Sub for Non-Certified, Teacher Assistant (7.5 hour/day): $113 per day Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Good discipline skills. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to read and write. Ability to administer teacher lesson plans. Ability to ensure a safe and healthful environment. Ability to assist students with understanding of rules and regulations. Ability to maintain cleanliness and neatness. Ability to maintain proper professional conduct. Ability to keep in confidence all personal, student, or personnel records and information. Education and Experience Current or expired teaching license from any state, preferred. Minimum of one year experience as a classroom teacher, preferred. Must be at least 21 years old, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, have a clear criminal record, and meet one of the following: Hold a current or expired teaching license from North Carolina or another state. Proof of completion of Effective Teacher Training. Physical Requirements Occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force. Requires speaking or hearing, using hands for repetitive motions, sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, pushing, pulling or lifting. Standard vision requirements. Vocal communication to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Requires preparation and analysis of written or computer data, operating machines, motor vehicles or equipment, and observation of general surroundings and activities. Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work generally located in a moderately noisy environment (e.g., business office, light traffic).
