Manager Site Projects- HatchJOB SUMMARY: Southern Nuclear Operating Company’s Fleet Projects organization provides leadership to deliver solutions to improve project delivery, plant performance, and increase regulatory margin. We are seeking an experienced individual for the Site Projects Manager over Site Project Leads. The Site Projects Manager position provides key leadership and direction to the Site Project Leads and is responsible for all aspects of the implementation phase of plant modifications for the station’s major projects. This role also supports initiatives and priorities for the site and fleet as a manager. The position provides leadership to ensure projects are safely executed on schedule, within authorized cost targets, with consideration of nuclear, personnel, and radiological safety. The Site Projects Manager is required to provide leadership, feedback, and direction to site project leads and supporting team members where appropriate. This position is a member of the Site Mid-level Management Team. JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)Education/Experience Preferences:Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline strongly preferred.Current/previous projects experience is preferred.Advanced degrees, Professional Engineer (PE) license, and other degrees/certifications will be considered based upon the candidate’s experience.Project Management certification (PMP) is a plus.Background/Experience Requirements:Minimum of Eight (8) years nuclear power experience in Engineering, Projects, Maintenance, Work Management, or Operations is required with Ten (10) years or more preferred.Minimum of three (3) years in a supervisor/manager position is preferred.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesBuild and sustain relationships across all levels of the organization including executive management and external stakeholders such as the NRC, INPO, etc.Thorough knowledge of safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.Has a strong background in field implementation standards, work planning, work management, and procurement processes.Has a working knowledge of union craft labor, labor bargaining units, contracts and SNC leased labor policies.Strong focus on plant risk and elimination/ mitigation strategies for field work including challenge meetings and post work critiques.Develop, support, and lead department/station initiatives.Participate in the Plant Health Working Group (PHWG), Project Review Committee (PRC), and T-week work management meetings as required.Interface with multiple departments including Engineering, Vendors, SCS, Architectural Engineering firms, Supply Chain and Financial Services.Lead, through example, to develop a culture of continuous improvement including owning efforts to attain and practice learnings from fleet and industry.Hire, develop, train and manage a qualified, high-performing staff, including performance management, goal setting, work prioritization and appropriate delegation of work assignments.Participate in appropriate external organizations to obtain personal and professional training and development, as well as identify and implement leading practices within Fleet Projects.The ability to solve problems and make sound judgments, based on experience and proper risk evaluation tools, to provide timely and appropriate resolutions to issues that might impact personnel safety, plant performance, budget, and project execution.The ability to communicate issues and drive problem resolution through various levels of management.Ability to effectively interface, build, and sustain relationships with other departments.Excellent written and oral communications skills.Behavioral Attributes:Demonstrates Southern Company Values – Safety First, Intentional Inclusion, Superior Performance, and Act with Integrity Model and enforce Nuclear Safety, Industrial Safety and Human Performance behaviors.Demonstrate ability to make independent prudent decisions and recognize when it is appropriate to elevate the decisionCritical decision-making ability to assess risk at multiple levels and understand the consequences and impacts of actions.Possess leadership courage to challenge department and station personnel to achieve high performance and excellent standards.Make decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and that have an important impact on project activities and plant health initiatives.Committed to success of employees, customers, and shareholders.Self-directed with strong initiative.
