Health Information Specialist I Location: Athens, AL 35611. Full-time, regular. Work hours Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM CST. Requires ability to commute between locations as needed, willingness to work overtime during peak seasons, and basic computer proficiency. In this role you will support the secure transfer of patient medical records, helping patients, insurers, and attorneys obtain the information they need. Key Responsibilities Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with company and facility policies. Maintain confidentiality and security of all privileged information. Keep current working knowledge of company and facility software. Adhere to the company code of conduct and all relevant policies. Communicate with managers regarding workload, site difficulties, and volume fluctuations. Assist with additional tasks as required. Apply medical privacy regulations consistently to prevent unauthorized disclosure. Manage patient health records and safeguard them in compliance with HIPAA standards. Prepare new patient charts, gathering documents from paper or electronic sources. Assemble medical records in standard order and ensure their accuracy and completeness. Create digital images of paperwork for storage in the electronic medical record. Respond to inbound and outbound calls related to patient records. Assist with patient walk‑ins and administrative duties such as fax handling, mail opening, and data entry. Meet productivity expectations as set by the specific site. Schedule pick‑ups when required.
