Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Relevant interpreting certification (such as EIPA, RID, or state credentials)
- Previous experience working in K-12 settings preferred
- Understanding of confidentiality and professional ethics
- Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills
- Flexibility to interpret in varying classroom subjects and activities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate interpretation between students, educators, and staff
- Support students who are deaf or hard of hearing in classroom and school activities
- Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to adapt instruction as needed
- Maintain professional standards and uphold student privacy requirements
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute insights as needed
