Technician - Property Office

Position Overview This position serves as a member of the Maine DOT Property Office based out of Region3 in Wilton, Maine. The primary role is to conduct topographic, GPS, construction, and other survey work as part of a field crew, including research and acquisition of public and civil records, tracking and data entry of Property Owner Reports (PORs), and maintenance and calibration of survey equipment. The work requires the use of complex electronic survey equipment and related software, computer skills to process survey data, and performing editing tasks in the Realty Management System (RMS). The position may serve as a survey crew chief on an as‑needed basis and will be conducted throughout the Western Region with limited supervision. Responsibilities Conduct topographic, GPS, and construction survey work. Research and acquire public and civil records related to property. Track and enter data for Property Owner Reports (PORs) into RMS. Maintain and calibrate survey equipment. Perform editing tasks associated with survey data. Act as survey crew chief when necessary. Qualifications Applicants must provide evidence of one of the following: Five (5) years of engineering experience, or An Associate Degree in Engineering or related technical field and three (3) years of engineering experience, or A Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related technical field and one (1) year of engineering experience. Benefits Competitive salary: $22.08 – $30.89 per hour (Salary Schedule) with a 2.5% stipend. Paid time off: 13 holidays, 3+ weeks of vacation annually with accrual based on years of service, and overtime‑exempt employees receive personal leave. Sick leave: 12 days annually. Health insurance: State pays 85%‑95% of premiums for employees. Dental insurance: State pays 100% of premiums. Retirement plan: 14.11% contribution to MainePERS.
