Industry Relations Advisor Employer: Ohlone College Salary: $64,128.00 – $81,888.00 Annually Job Type: Full-Time Division: President's Office Opening Date: 05/18/2026 Location: Newark Center Job Number: 202300192 Department: President's Office Bargaining Unit: California School Employees Association (CSEA) Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a professional, proactive, and engagement-driven individual who can work with minimal supervision, take initiative in building strong relationships with employers, community partners, students, and workforce stakeholders, and represent Ohlone College in a positive and professional manner. They are comfortable identifying opportunities, developing jobs and workforce opportunities, building partnerships, independently moving projects, community engagement efforts, and workforce initiatives forward. They possess strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills, can lead conversations, presentations, orientations, workshops, employer meetings, and hiring events with a variety of audiences. They are highly organized, adaptable, manage multiple priorities, coordinate events and logistics, and maintain accurate data, documents, and reporting. They support employers with job descriptions, postings, tracking placements, and workforce outcomes related to enrollments, training funds, and program metrics. They collaborate with a wide range of personalities, communicate respectfully, and maintain a solution‑oriented approach under pressure. They are committed to creating accessible, equitable, and impactful opportunities for students and the community while representing the Tri‑Cities Career Center and Ohlone College. Position Description Under the supervision of an administrator, the Industry Relations Advisor (IRA) conducts outreach to employers and businesses, develops jobs and internships for students, alumni, and community members, and coordinates entrepreneurship and recruiting events. The IRA serves as a liaison, connecting students, alumni, and community job seekers to opportunities while connecting businesses to advisory and educational opportunities to support business development. Responsibilities Conduct outreach (in‑person and online) using current marketing tools, including social media and mobile communications, to identify and attract employers, aspiring entrepreneurs, businesses, students, alumni, and community job seekers. Cultivate new programming and strategies to support employer talent acquisition, business advising, and training. Support the development of policies, procedures, and programs relevant to the position. Develop and implement employer and entrepreneur engagement activities throughout the year, including orientations, tabling, individual advising, information sessions, business education, training opportunities, career fairs, entrepreneurship seminars, drop‑in interviewing, industry forums, guest speaker engagements, job shadowing, marketing and branding opportunities. Establish and maintain partnerships with small businesses, corporations, non‑profits, and government entities to facilitate education, workforce, and economic development. Promote institutional brand and awareness by increasing the presence of Ohlone College in the community through private and public engagement, memberships in trade organizations, and chamber of commerce events. Prepare and maintain a variety of qualitative and quantitative reporting related to grants, contracts, and special projects. Provide business consultations, workshops, and small‑business talent acquisition events for job creation and retention. Train small businesses in job description writing and job posting. Review economic development reports, labor market trends, and regional surveys to stay current with local, state‑wide, and national workforce and economic trends. Create and convey demographics about students, alumni, community job seekers, and the business/employer community. Evaluate and approve employers and their job postings in the Ohlone College Career Center database; update the Career Center website and social media accounts and ensure compliance with Career Services Guidelines. Demonstrate sensitivity and respect for diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of the College's students, faculty, staff, and community. Effectively engage historically impacted groups by addressing equity issues and improving culturally responsive service‑oriented practices. Perform other related duties as assigned. Knowledge Hiring practices, including sourcing, recruiting, resume reviewing, and interviewing skills. Networking, marketing, and business development. Local business and sector trends and industries. Education, workforce, and economic development resources. Applicable employment laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Skills Operate a computer and assigned office equipment. Use and manage Customer Relations Management (CRM) software and Career Services Management (CSM) software. Develop workshop curriculum and plan events. Interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Provide business consultations and workshops. Abilities Conduct outreach to community members and organizations. Work independently with little direction. Maintain data, records, and files. Prioritize tasks and efficiently complete them. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action. Minimum Qualifications Any combination equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in business or a similar discipline and two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience related to the field of career/job development, and evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of diverse backgrounds of community college students. Physical Requirements Work in a standard office setting: standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods; occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, twisting; occasional lifting and carrying light or moderate objects; operating office equipment requiring fine motor skills; visible and audible communication; vision and hearing within normal ranges.
