Staff Accountant

Job Description

Our client, a pension organization in Manhattan, is hiring an Accounting Temp to help its loans and withdrawals team get member payouts processed accurately and on time.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile member transactions using the payroll reports run before and after each processing cycle
\n
• Enter, review and validate withdrawal and loan disbursement requests, following set procedures
\n
• Look into discrepancies, find what caused them and put fixes in place
\n
• Audit and approve transactions handled by teammates, review why requests were rejected, update the system and send the right correspondence to members
\n
• Answer questions from member-facing and internal teams, escalating complex cases when needed
\n
• Work with the accounting group that handles payments so disbursements go out on schedule
\n

Requirements

\n
• A foundation in financial processes and accounting principles
\n
• Background in accounting operations, financial services or pensions preferred
\n
• Highly accurate, with close attention to detail
\n
• Solid analytical and problem-solving ability
\n
• Organized and good at managing time across several deadlines at once
\n
• Able to set priorities and stay effective under pressure
\n
• Proficient in accounting systems, or able to learn them quickly
\n
