Factory Technical ManagerMonday - Friday, 8:00 – 17:00Cranswick Country Foods, Staithes Road, Preston, Hull, HU12 8TBPurpose of the Role Cranswick is a leading UK food producer with revenue of over 2.9 Billion. We produce and supply premium food to high profile UK grocery retailers, the food service sector and other UK and global customers.A senior technical role within the site leadership team. Reporting directly to the Senior Technical Manager, responsible for the technical performance and compliance of all factory processes. A large well-resourced and industry-leading technical team, with four direct reports, and a total QA team of over 20. You will provide support with customer complaint investigations, maintaining technical systems, hosting site visits and audits, as well as ensuring products are produced to the highest quality, customer standards and within safety, integrity, and legal requirements.Main Duties Include (but not limited to): Directly managing the site-based QA Manager and Compliance teams, ensuring strong presence, leadership and direction is provided.To drive a continuous improvement and food safety culture across site.Assume responsibility for the management of activities which ensure food safety, integrity, legality, and quality as well as deputising for the Senior Technical Manager.Supporting the Technical Improvement Manager and Quality Systems Manager in providing training and development plans, to assist the site-based QA, systems, and compliance teams.Be involved in managing day to day issues with the production teams and ensuring appropriate actions are taken and documented where deviations from specified controls occur.Assisting in new product trials and providing feedback of any key challenges early in the process.Developing specific paperwork and procedures as required in conjunction with the wider team.Is a key member of the HACCP Food Safety Plan.Lead factory based technical audits and visits in absence of the Senior Technical Manager.Lead independent projects as and when the need arises, ensuring that all company, legislative, customer and 3rd party accreditation body standards are considered.Help to develop expertise across the site, fully understanding the processes and constraints, to continuously improve food safety, legality, and quality compliance across the site, in conjunction with other members of the operations team.What We Look For: Essential: experience of FMCG manufacturing at a managerial level (preferably food related).Formal Qualifications of HACCP L4 and Food Safety L4.Proven track record of delivery – progression, empowerment, and growth – advantageous.Experience of health and safety or formal qualifications - advantageous.Prior experience in management of quality assurance – multiple retailer and food standards.Presentation skills: demonstrable ability to interact with high profile customers.What We Offer: Job stability at a growing and expanding companyStrong commitment to progression and personal developmentGenerous annual leave entitlementPurchase company shares through discounted share schemeNew canteen with freshly made breakfast and lunch optionsCompany pension scheme - up to 10% matched contributionsAccess to retail discount app, bike to work scheme, health and wellbeing platformA full job description is available upon request.
