Title: Legal Billing Supervisor

Location: Chicago, IL 60606

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Hybrid: The position will start off 100% in office, with ability to go hybrid

Pay: $50/hour, with flexibility

Contract: 3+ months - there is a vacancy in the role, so there is potential to be brought on

Requirements: Experience with Aderant, legal billing, and managing a team

Overview:

The Legal Billing Supervisor will oversee the firm’s billing operations, including pre-bill and final billing cycles, electronic billing submissions, client billing guidelines, and accounts receivable activity. This individual will also provide leadership and support to a team of four billing professionals while helping improve workflows and maximize the efficiency of the billing function.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise, train, and mentor a team of four billing professionals
\n
• Oversee and execute monthly pre-bill and final billing cycles, ensuring accuracy and timely completion
\n
• Review attorney time entries, disbursement charges, and cost sheets for compliance with firm policies and client billing guidelines
\n
• Manage complex legal billing structures, including flat-fee arrangements, patent and trademark prosecution billing, and multi-matter client invoicing
\n
• Manage electronic billing submissions through third-party platforms, including Legal Tracker, Corridor, and CounselLink
\n
• Troubleshoot rejected invoices, appeal guideline reductions, and resolve billing discrepancies with client accounting departments
\n
• Collaborate with accounting and administrative teams to improve billing processes and workflows
\n
• Leverage legal billing software to increase efficiency and reduce accounts receivable days
\n
• Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and follow up on overdue accounts with attorneys and clients
\n
• Assist with collections management and additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership
\n

Qualifications:

\n
• Prior experience in legal billing and electronic billing (e-billing)
\n
• Strong hands-on experience with Aderant software required
\n
• Previous experience supervising or leading a small team required
\n
• Knowledge of complex legal billing guidelines and client-specific billing requirements
\n
• Must be comfortable working fully onsite
