Director of Operations

3-Month Contract | 20–30 Hours/Week Initially We're partnering with a growing food manufacturer to identify an experienced operations leader to oversee manufacturing and supply chain operations during a leadership transition. This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys solving operational challenges, building structure, and leading teams in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Lead day-to-day manufacturing, warehouse, and supply chain operations. Manage production scheduling, labor planning, packaging schedules, and warehouse execution. Oversee procurement, inventory, raw materials, shipping, logistics, and finished goods. Partner with the outgoing operations leader to ensure a seamless transition of systems, processes, and priorities. Establish and manage KPIs for production, inventory accuracy, quality, throughput, and on‑time execution. Drive accountability across the operations team while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and execution. Manage inventory and production planning using ERP/inventory management systems. Balance customer demand, manufacturing capacity, warehouse utilization, and production priorities. Support the onboarding of new contract manufacturing customers while maintaining service levels for existing business. Partner closely with executive leadership to communicate operational performance and drive continuous improvement. Requirements 8+ years of progressive operations leadership experience within food, beverage, nutrition, supplements, or another CPG manufacturing environment. Experience leading manufacturing, production, procurement, inventory, warehousing, logistics, and quality functions. Co‑manufacturing, co‑packing, or contract manufacturing experience strongly preferred. Proven experience building operational metrics, dashboards, and reporting processes that drive accountability. Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross‑functional manufacturing teams. Comfortable operating in a lean, entrepreneurial organization where leaders are expected to be both strategic and hands‑on. Experience with ERP or inventory management systems; familiarity with SOS Inventory or QuickBooks Online is a plus. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining organization, urgency, and attention to detail. Available to work onsite in the Austin area and begin quickly. Schedule: Approximately 20–30 hours per week to start, ramping toward full-time during the engagement.
