About the Position

Job Title: MRI Technologist Profession: MRI Technologist Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Varied Hours per Shift: 37.5 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in MRI preferred License: Client License (L.R.T.) Certifications: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT Certified), BLS certification Must-Have: - Strong background in cross-sectional anatomy, physical sciences, and MRI physics - Excellent technical skills Description: This position operates and prepares specialized equipment to perform magnetic imaging procedures. Applies the necessary technical judgment to obtain studies of acceptable diagnostic quality according to written protocols and patient needs. Performs MRI imaging procedures. Positions patients and associated coils to obtain optimum study. Provides patient education relevant to specific imaging procedures by informing patients of the nature of the procedure, the area to be imaged, and any specific instructions needed. Reviews all patient safety questionnaires prior to introducing patients into the MRI scan room. Ensures all MRI images are appropriately labeled as specified by department SOP. Evaluates images for technical acceptability and ensures images are transmitted to PACS in a timely fashion. Ensures that all studies performed are completed in IDX in a timely fashion. Ensures Radiology room and equipment cleanliness at the start and end of the shift, including the removal of soiled or dirty linen. Scans patient-related documents. Maintains supplies and accessories in the radiographic room necessary to safely perform duties, as required. Accurately records all required patient tracking information into IDX. Schedules exams into IDX as required. Informs the supervisor or appropriate personnel of needed repairs to equipment or unsafe conditions. Assists physicians directly as required. Calls for in-patients as required. Performs related clerical duties in the absence of support personnel. Maintains safety standards via strict adherence to safety guidelines to prevent the introduction of ferromagnetic material into the scan room. Protects self, patients, and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols. Attends in-services and other professional development meetings as required. Maintains licensure specific to the job and adheres to the Public Health Code. Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
