Staff Accountant

Manufacturing accounting at a food and beverage company has a rhythm to it — costing, inventory, close, tax filings, repeat — and this company is looking for someone who knows the beat. A food and beverage manufacturer is hiring a Staff Accountant to partner with the Controller and own a broad slice of the accounting function. This isn't a tasker type role. You'll carry your own close responsibilities, maintain cost and inventory accounting, handle property and sales tax filings, and interface directly with external auditors. If you've done GL accounting in a manufacturing environment and you want a seat with real variety and a clear line of sight to the Controller, this is worth a look. What you'll own Execute monthly journal entries and perform account reconciliations Contribute to month-end and year-end close — including preparing the balance sheet and and income statement Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules Review monthly inventory transactions and reconciliations Review standard costs and report on variances Partner with sales teams to provide sales reports and updates on commissions Prepare and submit property tax filings and quarterly sales and use tax filings Assist with AP and AR functions as needed Contribute to forecasting activities and process improvement initiatives What you bring 2+ years of general ledger accounting experience in a manufacturing environment Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Exposure to cost accounting (you don't need to be a cost accountant) Advanced Excel — pivot tables, nested formulas, financial modeling Why this one is worth a look Broad scope for a staff-level role — costing, inventory, tax compliance, audit prep, and close all in one seat Food and beverage manufacturing offers stable, consumer-driven demand — not a cyclical industry story Direct report to the Controller with real visibility into how the full accounting function operates Cost accounting and variance analysis at this stage of your career builds the foundation for a Controller track A company that invests in process improvement and expects its accounting team to be part of the conversation Equal Opportunity Employer/Verterans/Disabled To read our privacy policy, please go to optimrecruiting.com/privacy.
