Overview

The SAP MDG Finance Functional Consultant will play a critical role in supporting enterprise master data governance within a federal SAP S/4HANA environment. This position is responsible for improving financial data quality, establishing governance processes, and ensuring consistency of financial master data across integrated systems to support operational efficiency and informed decision-making.

Summary

We are seeking an experienced SAP MDG Finance Functional Consultant with expertise in SAP Master Data Governance and SAP Finance processes. The ideal candidate will have experience configuring MDG Finance solutions, supporting governance workflows, and collaborating with functional and technical stakeholders to manage financial master data across enterprise SAP environments. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to strategic modernization initiatives supporting federal clients and mission-critical operations.

Responsibilities

Lead business requirements gathering sessions and facilitate workshops focused on financial master data governance.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define business rules, governance policies, and financial master data requirements.
Configure SAP MDG Finance functionality, including data modeling, process modeling, and UI FPM configuration.
Develop and maintain workflow processes, validation rules, and derivation rules using SAP Business Rule Framework Plus (BRF+).
Support governance processes for financial master data, including General Ledger Accounts, Cost Centers, Profit Centers, Internal Orders, and Company Codes.
Configure and maintain the Data Replication Framework (DRF) to support data distribution across SAP environments.
Support financial master data integration using SOA Services, Web Services, IDocs, and related technologies.
Partner with Finance, Controlling, Procurement, Supply Chain, and technical teams to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
Develop functional specifications, configuration documents, process flows, and governance documentation.
Execute unit testing and integration testing activities and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Troubleshoot SAP MDG Finance issues and implement enhancements to improve system functionality and user experience.
Participate in process mapping, change management, and user adoption initiatives.
Provide guidance on master data governance best practices and support enterprise data governance programs.
Support ongoing SAP S/4HANA modernization and optimization efforts within a multi-system environment.
Travel occasionally to client locations to provide project support and stakeholder engagement.
Adhere to organizational quality assurance, security, and compliance standards.
Perform additional project and operational support activities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
5+ years of experience supporting SAP Master Data Governance, SAP Finance, or related SAP functional disciplines.
Hands-on experience configuring SAP MDG Finance, including data modeling, workflow configuration, UI FPM modeling, BRF+, and Data Replication Framework (DRF).
Strong knowledge of SAP Finance (FI) and Controlling (CO) master data within SAP S/4HANA.
Experience managing General Ledger Accounts, Cost Centers, Profit Centers, Internal Orders, Company Codes, and related financial master data objects.
Experience gathering business requirements, facilitating workshops, and translating business needs into functional solutions.
Proven ability to develop functional designs, process documentation, and configuration documentation.
Experience supporting multi-system SAP landscapes and enterprise master data governance initiatives.
Knowledge of SAP integration technologies including SOA Services, Web Services, and IDocs.
Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA implementations, ERP modernization programs, or federal government SAP environments preferred.
Experience supporting cross-functional integrations involving Finance (FI), Controlling (CO), Materials Management (MM), Procurement, and Supply Chain preferred.
SAP MDG, SAP S/4HANA Finance, SAP FI/CO, or related SAP certifications preferred.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with functional, technical, and business stakeholders.
Active Secret Security Clearance required.
Must be a U.S. Citizen eligible to maintain federal security clearance requirements.
Willingness to travel occasionally to support client needs and project activities.
