Licensed Mental Health TherapistAre you passionate about helping individuals living with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders achieve recovery and independence? First Step House is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Licensed Mental Health Therapist to join our multidisciplinary behavioral health team in Salt Lake City, Utah.In this role, you will provide evidence-based clinical services to adults experiencing mental health and substance use challenges while collaborating with a team committed to delivering high-quality, person-centered care.The ACT Team Mental Health Therapist provides evidence-based individual and group psychotherapy, behavioral health assessment, and ongoing clinical intervention for adults living with serious mental illness (ex: schizophrenia, bipolar, schizoaffective disorders). Working primarily in the community — in client homes, shelters, community settings, and other locations where clients live, work, and spend their time — this individual brings therapeutic expertise directly to those who have historically had the greatest difficulty accessing or sustaining engagement with traditional outpatient mental health services. The role is grounded in recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and person-centered practice, and requires a deep commitment to serving individuals with conditions such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar I disorder, and major depression with psychotic features.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct comprehensive mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations.Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on client needs and goals.Provide individual, group, and family therapy using evidence-based practices.Deliver therapeutic interventions for individuals experiencing serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders.Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.Collaborate with psychiatrists, case managers, peer support specialists, and community partners to coordinate care.Participate in treatment team meetings, case consultations, and clinical supervision as appropriate.Support clients in developing coping skills, recovery goals, emotional regulation, and community integration.Maintain compliance with all state, federal, ethical, and organizational standards.QualificationsRequiredMaster's degree (MSW, MS, MA) in Social Work, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or a closely related behavioral health field from an accredited program.Current Utah licensure or license-eligible status in one of the following: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC)Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)Associate-level licensure candidates (CSW-I, ACMHC, AMFT) are encouraged to apply and must be actively working toward independent licensure under supervision.Minimum of two (2) years of post-graduate clinical experience.Strong assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic intervention skills.Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.PreferredExperience in community mental health, public-sector behavioral health, or programs serving adults with serious mental illness.Experience working with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.Training and demonstrated competency in one or more evidence-based treatment modalities such as: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp)Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)Illness Management and Recovery (IMR)Motivational Interviewing (MI)What We OfferCompetitive compensationMedical, Dental, and Vision InsurancePaid Time Off (PTO)Paid HolidaysRetirement Savings PlanClinical Supervision and Professional Development OpportunitiesSupportive Team EnvironmentMeaningful Work That Changes LivesIf you are committed to empowering individuals on their recovery journey and want to make a lasting impact in your community, we encourage you to apply today.
