Job Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Room

Summary:

The competent Nurse, with experience in a similar clinical setting, practices independently and exhibits awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. This role involves providing both routine and complex nursing care while setting long-term goals or plans. The Nurse will continue to enhance their ability to manage the dynamic nature of clinical nursing and will make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers to effectively manage the clinical situation.

Responsibilities:

• Meets expectations aligned with the designated competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Implements nursing care in accordance with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, utilizing the nursing process that includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families, in accordance with their level of practice.
• Administers medications and treatments following established protocols; monitors for side effects and the effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and nursing care provided.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies relevant issues and resources.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.

Experience:

• One year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Current BLS certification required (AHA only).
• Current ACLS certification required (AHA only).
• Current PALS certification required (AHA only).
• Current TNCC certification required.
• RN License in the state of Texas or a compact state is required.

Position Requirements:

Education/Skills:

• All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member, and initial onboarding requirements will be validated through successful completion of designated competency validations.
• All newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency program or other specific orientations, achieving skills and competency completion with preceptors at the bedside.
• Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is mandatory.

Experience:

• One year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.

Work Schedule:

The position typically involves a full-time commitment with 12-hour shifts from 6 AM to 6 PM.
