Proofreader Position

Our client, an organization dedicated to supporting democratic processes, is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Proofreader to join their team. As a Proofreader, you will be an essential part of the Elections Department supporting the preparation of the Voter Information Guide. The ideal candidate will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, strong proofreading skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Job Title: Proofreader

Location: Salinas, CA

Pay Range: $20.00

Shift: 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM Monday through Friday

What's the Job?

• Proofread and compare voter guide content in English and/or Spanish to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Correct grammatical, typographical, and compositional errors as needed.
• Ensure all content matches the original author's version.
• Collaborate with translation and editorial teams to resolve discrepancies or issues in the content.
• Use Adobe InDesign to review and correct the voter guide layout and text.

What's Needed?

• Minimum of 2 years of proofreading, editing, or related experience.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong proofreading skills.
• Proficiency in Adobe InDesign is desirable.
• Excellent reading and writing skills in English; bilingual skills in Spanish are a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks efficiently.
