Assistant Operations Manager

Transdev in Vallejo, Ca. is hiring an Assistant Operations Manager. The Assistant Operations Manager oversees all functions listed in the dispatcher job description and ensures that dispatchers adhere to those requirements. The role is empowered to make decisions in critical situations such as vehicle accidents, operator incidents, and other operational emergencies. The primary responsibility is to monitor dispatcher and operator activities, maintain continuous staffing of all stations, and ensure the consistent functioning of centralized dispatching. Key Responsibilities Ensure dispatchers fulfill their job description obligations. Maintain dispatcher professionalism and reflect Transdev’s standards in client facilities. Conduct ongoing training to ensure dispatcher compliance with company needs. Coordinate breaks and assign replacement personnel to keep all stations and functions continuously manned. Ensure routes run on time and remain on schedule. Monitor Call Manager activity to confirm prompt dispatcher response to inbound calls. Use the AVL screen to ensure dispatchers identify and compensate for late-running routes. Notify appropriate management staff of all incidents and accidents. Ensure standby personnel are accounted for and utilized properly. Refer disciplinary matters to operations or human resources as appropriate. Counsel employees and refer payroll or administrative issues to management. Interface with the Maintenance Department at Provider offices to coordinate roadside assistance. Coordinate with Safety and Operations departments to document incidents via Accident/Incident Notification Forms. Troubleshoot technical problems with GPS or cellular equipment with client and Transdev IT. Supervise A.M./P.M. sign-in boards to ensure all routes run on time. Monitor radio communications, record service delays, and communicate them to customers; handle accidents or breakdowns appropriately. Track operator absence and tardiness; initiate disciplinary action consistent with company policy. Be available at the dispatch counter to assist operators and supervise communication of operator concerns or route changes with the customer. Monitor master sign-in sheets and equipment lists to keep operator changes, equipment changes, and reporting times accurate. Perform any other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent (some college preferred). Minimum of three years experience in dispatch or supervision, preferably in a fixed-route and paratransit environment with computerized scheduling and dispatching. Strong knowledge of the Vallejo service area. Dependable with reliable transportation. Computer literate and fluent in written and verbal English. Strong written communication skills for reporting requirements. Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and courtesy. Physical Requirements Must be able to work shifts or flexible schedules as needed. Work is performed indoors in an air-conditioned or well-ventilated facility. Work is conducted at a workstation or cubicle equipped with a telephone, headset, and computer. Work environments can be noisy; employees spend long periods sitting, typing, or viewing a computer screen.
